THE SOL Plaatje Municipality has confirmed that the process to restore Kimberley’s water supply will begin at 10pm on Monday night, as the planned shutdown reaches its final stage.
According to the municipality’s Communications Unit, raw water pumps at the Riverton abstraction works will be activated at 10pm to begin filling the 2ML and 9ML clearwater tanks. Line filling will start around midnight, with water expected to reach the Newton Reservoir by 4am on Tuesday.
Once reservoir capacity is boosted, the municipality remains on track to restore tap supply by 6pm on Tuesday.
Residents in low-lying areas are urged to switch off JoJo tank connections to help ensure water can reach the Newton Reservoir effectively.
