THE UNITED Africans Transformation (UAT) political party distributed over 100 food parcels to the community of Vergenoeg in Galeshewe on Monday.
The event, held at Mphela Community Park, was attended by UAT's national and provincial leadership, including its president, Dr Wonder Mahlatsi.
The food parcels were distributed to support the community, with UAT leaders encouraging residents to actively participate in the upcoming local government elections.
Dr Mahlatsi shared the IEC voting statistics for the area, emphasising the importance of holding leaders accountable.
During the visit, the UAT leadership also met with Shadrack Blom, a resident living in a dilapidated house. The organisation aims to raise funds to rebuild his home, highlighting the dire need for support.
According to the Northern Cape provincial chairperson, Thomas Phuthi, the UAT’s vision is to strengthen and build robust social services that cater to the needs of all citizens. This includes providing access to necessities like nutritious food, quality health care, education, and funding support systems.
Phuthi said the community outreach event demonstrated UAT's commitment to supporting the community and promoting active citizenship.
