THE POLICE cracked down on a suspected drug hub in Galeshewe this week, arresting a 43-year-old woman and confiscating narcotics valued at more than R330,000 from a house in Dorah Pico Street.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Merapelo Pilane said the dramatic operation unfolded on May 22 when officers from the Northern Cape SAPS Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit swooped on the house, acting on a tip-off about a suspected drug den.
During a search of the premises, officers uncovered a stash of drugs - believed to be Cat (methcathinone) - hidden inside one of the rooms. The narcotics, with an estimated street value of more than R330,000, were seized as evidence.
The woman was taken into custody and is expected to make her first court appearance soon. The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with authorities determined to dismantle local drug operations.
The arrest forms part of a wider clampdown aimed at disrupting drug networks operating in the Northern Cape. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities via the MySAPS app or the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111.
