THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Education has confirmed that the principal of a Kimberley high school has been placed on precautionary suspension following serious allegations of sexual harassment.
According to an official statement from the department, the suspension was served on Monday, May 5. The decision to suspend the principal was taken in accordance with departmental procedures, which allow for precautionary suspension while investigations into alleged misconduct are under way.
The department emphasised that the matter is currently under investigation and that further details cannot be disclosed at this stage in order to protect the integrity of the process.
It did not indicate how long the investigation is expected to take, nor who will be acting in the principal’s place during the suspension.
