A SWIFT police operation has brought two suspected burglars to book just days after a firearm and other valuables were stolen from a farmhouse near Kanoneiland.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the break-in, which took place on the morning of Saturday, May 10, saw criminals target a remote property, making off with a .38 Special revolver and a number of household items, including a solar light.
Following the incident, local police launched an intelligence-led investigation that quickly gained traction. Within 48 hours, officers tracked down two suspects, aged 23 and 25, believed to be behind the farm burglary. During the arrest, the police recovered the stolen firearm and what is believed to be the missing solar light.
The two men now face charges of housebreaking and theft, as well as illegal possession of a firearm. They are expected to appear in court soon.
