AT JUST 17 years old, Kimberley Girls’ High School learner Resego Tsolo is proving that courage and a passion for empowerment can take you far - even on your very first modelling journey.
A proud finalist in the national Miss Teen Glam SA pageant, Resego is representing not only her hometown but also young women across South Africa who are stepping out of their comfort zones and chasing their dreams.
For Resego, the road to the spotlight wasn’t paved with years of runway experience or multiple crowns - in fact, Miss Teen Glam SA is her very first pageant. “It all started with my desire to try something new and challenge myself,” she explains. “As someone who is naturally introverted, I don’t usually put myself out there, so this experience is really pushing me to step outside my comfort zone.”
And step out she has. Resego’s powerful mental health advocacy video and confident radio interview have already made waves in the competition, earning her heartfelt praise and recognition. “I was surprised by how many people were touched by my video,” she says. “As for the radio interview, I was impressed with myself for how well I handled the questions and how quickly I was able to think on my feet.”
With a clear vision and a heart full of purpose, Resego is using the Miss Teen Glam SA platform to inspire confidence, self-love, and mental health awareness among young women. “I believe every girl deserves to feel empowered and know that she's enough just the way she is,” she says.
Balancing the demands of the competition with school and extracurriculars is no small feat, but Resego manages it all with discipline and grace. She sticks to a study schedule and juggles her spare time between modelling commitments and singing in the school choir. “It’s all about balance,” she says with a smile.
As a finalist, Resego is most passionate about mental health literacy and encouraging girls to believe in themselves. “With the right support and encouragement, young girls can achieve anything,” she affirms. It’s this message of empowerment that she hopes to take even further in the years ahead.
Despite the contrast between her quiet nature and the glamour of pageantry, Resego has embraced the challenge. “This journey has required me to do things I definitely would not have done previously,” she admits. “But from when I started the journey till now, it has definitely become easier.”
Beyond the pageant, she has big dreams for her future. In the next five years, Resego hopes to participate in more pageants - and eventually aim for the prestigious Miss South Africa title. Alongside her modelling ambitions, she plans to complete a qualification in tourism management and begin her adventures around the world. “I want a few stamps in my passport,” she laughs.
Resego credits her success so far to the strong support of her loved ones. “My entire family and friends have been my greatest support structure,” she says. “But my mom has definitely been the one who has kept me motivated.”
To young girls dreaming of following in her footsteps, Resego has a heartfelt message: “Follow your dreams and never doubt yourself. You are beautiful, and you are enough.”
As Resego Tsolo continues her journey in Miss Teen Glam SA, she’s not just walking a runway - she’s walking a path of purpose, bravery, and inspiration for a new generation of young women in Kimberley and beyond.
