A STOLEN Mercedes-Benz linked to a Cape Town house robbery was intercepted near Three Sisters in the Northern Cape after sharp-eyed Colesberg Highway Patrol officers executed a tactical stop on Saturday afternoon, May 3.
According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, the luxury vehicle had been reported stolen during a robbery in Table View and was traced heading north on the N1, thanks to surveillance technology provided by SA Polygraph and Investigation Services (SAPAS).
Acting swiftly, highway patrol officers intercepted both the Mercedes-Benz and an Audi believed to be travelling with it.
During the stop-and-search operation, three men were arrested and a number of suspected stolen items were recovered, including laptops, cellphones, and other valuables.
Both vehicles were seized, and the suspects - aged between 24 and 36 - now face charges related to the possession of suspected stolen vehicles and property.
Police investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon, said Lieutenant-Colonel Kock.
The Northern Cape SAPS management praised the effective collaboration between the Colesberg Highway Patrol, SAPAS, and other role-players, highlighting the operation as a strong example of successful integrated policing.
The authorities have encouraged community members to report any criminal activity by calling Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or using the MySAPS app. Tip-offs can be made anonymously and will be handled with strict confidentiality.
