THE SOUTH African National Blood Service (SANBS) is calling on families across the country to mark the Easter season by giving the gift of life together through its #EasterFamilyBloodBond campaign.

Launched in the spirit of unity and compassion, the campaign encourages relatives to donate blood side by side, transforming the act of donation into a shared experience that could help save lives. As the holiday period often inspires reflection and connection, SANBS hopes to spark a new family tradition of generosity.

Families are invited to visit their nearest SANBS donor centre and take part in the initiative by donating together. Donors are also encouraged to share photos of their experience on social media using the campaign hashtag #EasterFamilyBloodBond. Selected images will be featured in a special end-of-season tribute collage to recognise the contributions of participating families.

Throughout the campaign, SANBS will spotlight real stories from families who have donated together, highlighting the tangible impact of their actions and the lives they have touched.

The organisation hopes the campaign will inspire families to adopt blood donation as a new tradition - one that fosters unity, expresses compassion, and contributes to building a legacy of giving.

For more information on how to take part, visit your nearest donor site or follow SANBS on social media.

“This Easter, start a new family tradition. Donate blood. Share the love. Build a legacy of giving,” said SANBS spokesperson Thandi Mosupye.
