A SEARCH effort spanning more than two days came to a sombre end on Tuesday morning when the body of a 21-year-old man was recovered from Kareepan Dam near Postmasburg.
The young man is believed to have gone missing in the dam’s waters on Sunday, March 23. After a two-day search, his body was retrieved at 10.45am on March 25 by specialised members of the Northern Cape SAPS Search and Rescue Unit, assisted by the North West SAPS Diving Unit.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said the Postmasburg police have opened an inquest docket and are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
