THE KIMBERLEY police have launched a search for a 55-year-old man who went missing after being admitted to the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital earlier this month.
Elias Lumkwana, originally from Colesberg, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. When a family member arrived the next day to visit him, he was nowhere to be found. Despite enquiries, hospital staff could not confirm his whereabouts, leading to a missing person report filed with the Kimberley police on Thursday, March 6.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said that the Kimberley SAPS Serious and Violent Crimes unit is calling on the public to assist in locating Lumkwana.
Members of the public with any information regarding Lumkwana’s whereabouts are encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Moagi Mokatsane at 083 314 3855, report information via SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS app for anonymous tips.
Lieutenant-Colonel Kock has also reminded residents that there is no waiting period to report a missing person.
The search for Lumkwana continues as his family anxiously awaits news, hoping for his safe return.
