Principals and staff from Ward 76 preschools that have received R100 000 worth of equipment
Thirteen Mitchell’s Plain preschools have received R100 000 worth of equipment.
Ward 76 councillor Avron Plaatjies said the money had come from his ward budget, and the recipient preschools had to be registered on the sub-council database.
“It’s important our kids have a safe space that is comfortable, safe and educational. It’s very important to me to ensure they get proper equipment so that learning can be enhanced,” he said.
Valda Phillips, chairperson of Mitchell’s Plain Early Childhood Development Forum, said: “This equipment is to make sure that the child develops well.”
Lenore Tieka, principal of Lobelia Happy Tots Educare in Lentegeur, said she was grateful for the support.
“The income we receive doesn’t cover half of the things we’ve received. Now we’re able to concentrate on our children.”
