Pelican Park High School came first in the Inter-school Athletics Sports Day at Green Point stadium, on Thursday February 6.
Shariefa Clark, acting principal, said Pelican Park High had a total of 467 points, Lavender Hill 466 and in third place Bergvliet with 437.
Ms Clark said that two learners Albert Gora, Boys U-17 and Antonia Davids, Boys U-19 achieved first position in high jump “without any high jump practice before the event due to lack of high jump equipment and beat learners from all the other schools who have this equipment to practice on”.
Ms Clark said: “I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that the team has put in to ensure our learners are ready. A special thanks to coach Shafiek Williams and Junaid Idas, our sports coordinator.”
