JUDGMENT on the bail application of murder accused Deon Cloete, 50, is expected to be delivered in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on February 14, Valentine’s Day.

Cloete has been charged with the murder of Roelien Archer, 42, in Hillcrest, Kimberley, on January 30.

According to police reports, Archer was allegedly shot following a “domestic dispute” that arose when she went to collect clothing from her ex-partner’s house. Cloete was arrested shortly after the incident.

The State is opposing bail for the accused, who is charged with a Schedule 5 offence.

Cloete previously appeared in court on February 7, when the case was postponed. He was advised that it was too late to conclude his bail hearing.

The investigating officer also indicated that he would be on leave from February 10.

Cloete appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a formal bail application.

He was represented by advocate Marcus Mafaro, while State prosecutor Goitremodimo Paul appeared on behalf of the State.

A memorial service for Archer was held on February 8 at Duits Wes Pub, where she was a former employee.
