Pixley ka Seme police honoured for excellence at glamorous awards event

THE PIXLEY ka Seme 7th annual Excellence Awards, hosted by SAPS district commissioner Major-General Nomana Mtukushe, took place at a glamorous event on November 22 at the De Aar Town Hall. The event celebrated outstanding service within the South African Police Service.

The deputy provincial commissioner for Corporate Services, Major-General Thabo Mphuthi, officiated the grand event, accompanied by the executive mayor, Councillor Itumeleng, senior municipal officials, district commissioners, provincial heads, and senior officers.

The ceremony recognised officers and members from the district across 27 categories for their dedication and exceptional performance in 2023/24.

Labour unions Popcru and Sapu delivered messages of support, encouraging SAPS members to exceed expectations and continue serving with dedication.

In her keynote address, Major-General Mphuthi emphasised the significance of the awards in boosting morale and productivity. She reminded members that being part of the SAPS is a calling and urged award recipients to inspire their colleagues to achieve even greater success.

- Administration Employee of the Year: Level 8-12 - Capt N Makhangela from De Aar EHW

- Administration Team of the Year - CACC IL Garoheb and AC GX Hoshe from Colesberg Finance

- Vispol Employees of the Year: Level 5-7 - Sgt K Botha - Douglas SAPS

- Vispol Employees of the Year: Level 8-12 - Lt Col ST Mpofu from Marydale SAPS

- Vispol Team of the Year - Prieska SAPS

- Operations Team - De Aar POP

- Detective Employee of the Year: Level 5-7 - Sgt W Jullies from De Aar STEU

- Detective Employee of the Year: Level 8-12 - Capt JJP Pelzer from Hopetown SAPS

- Detective Team of the Year - Phillipstown Detectives

- FCS Employee of the Year: Level 5-7 - Sgt IM Fan from De Aar FCS

- Sportsman of the Year - Sgt GM Zweni from Colesberg SAPS

- Sportswoman of the Year - WO N Wiid from Hopetown SAPS

- CR & CSM Employee of the Year: Level 5-7 - Sgt MJ Matlhare from De Aar LCRC

- CR & CSM Employee of the Year: Level 8-12 - Capt L Matyobeni from De Aar LCRC

- CR & CSM Team of the Year - De Aar and Victoria West

- DPCI Special Awards - Lt Col L Jali from the Pixley Ka Seme District

- Crime Intelligence Employee of the Year: Level 5-7 - Sgt LR Peters from Pixley Ka Seme District

Additionally, District Commissioner Special Awards were presented by Major-General Mtukushe to honour members who rendered extraordinary service to the community.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Colonel M Matomane, station commander of De Aar, who expressed gratitude to all participants and the organisers.

These awards not only celebrate excellence but also serve as an inspiration for all SAPS members to continue their unwavering commitment to serving and protecting their communities.
