EFFECTIVE November 1, 2024, SANParks has updated its daily conservation fees for the Arid Parks region of the Northern Cape. These changes will affect visitors to several national parks, including Augrabies Falls National Park, Mokala National Park, Namaqua National Park, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, and the /Ai/Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park.
SANParks has discounted conservation fees for South African citizens in recognition of the financial challenges many locals face and to honour the taxpayer contributions that help support conservation. The conservation fees directly fund the preservation of South Africa’s diverse ecosystems and cultural heritage within these national parks.
In addition to the conservation fee, a 1% community fund levy will now be applied to all accommodations and activities. This levy supports various community-driven initiatives, including health care, education, and essential water and sanitation projects. Funds from this levy aim to empower local communities and foster sustainable relationships between SANParks and surrounding communities.
Additionally, parks with rhino populations will introduce a special Rhino Conservation fee to help combat poaching and support rhino protection efforts.
The updated conservation fees for the Arid Region National Parks are as follows, with rates inclusive of VAT and subject to change without prior notice:
Augrabies Falls National Park
Mokala National Park
Namaqua National Park
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
/Ai/Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park
