A 38-YEAR-old man was arrested for stock theft after the Fraserburg police found slaughtered meat in his possession.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said on Tuesday that the suspect was apprehended during an operation being conducted by the Fraserburg SAPS Detectives unit.
According to Kock, the detectives followed up on information and traced the suspect, who was found with the meat of a slaughtered sheep and a butcher’s knife. The items were confiscated by the police.
Kock added that during the same operation, three additional suspects were arrested on unrelated charges.
“On October 7, the Fraserburg Detectives executed a wanted suspects operation, which led to the arrest of three men, aged 24, 25 and 38, on charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and contravention of protection orders.”
Kock stated that the four suspects are expected to appear in the Fraserburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
“The investigation continues,” he added.
