IN A DETERMINED effort to enforce the law and combat drug-related crime, SAPS members in the ZF Mgcawu (ZFM) District are intensifying search-and-seizure operations alongside visible patrols in hot-spot areas.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela reported that on July 11, the Upington Public Order Police (POP) conducted high-density patrols in Kakamas. During these patrols, they executed cordon and search operations at two targeted premises.

At the first location, officers discovered dagga valued at approximately R98,750. Continuing their operation, they searched a second identified house, resulting in the confiscation of dagga worth R36,000 and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Two male suspects, aged 21 and 40, were arrested on charges of dealing in dagga and are expected to appear in court soon.

These operations are part of the SAPS in the ZFM District's ongoing efforts to ensure a drug-free society and prevent young people from falling into drug abuse.
