THE GALESHEWE police are investigating a murder case after the lifeless body of a 39-year-old woman was discovered in a shack within the Madiba informal settlement (Madiba Square).

The incident unfolded on Monday, sending shockwaves through the local community.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, a 38-year-old male suspect, believed to be the deceased woman’s partner, has been apprehended and is expected to face court proceedings imminently.

The incident has caused a stir in the Madiba Square community, as the body was found in the shack where the couple lived.

Neighbors mentioned that they last saw the deceased on Thursday, June 20, and had been concerned about the woman’s absence, as the couple was known to be inseparable.

In response to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, community members have vowed to stage regular protests outside the court if foul play is confirmed.

Meanwhile, Kock said authorities plan to conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death as the police investigation continues.

The Madiba Square community remains on edge as they await further developments in the case.
