AN 18-year-old man was arrested after Marydale police allegedly found mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R4 320 in his possession.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Timothy Sam, said the man was arrested after police followed up on information regarding a suspicious person in Bokwe Street in Marydale.
“When the person was approached by the police he ran away. Police gave chase and caught-up with the suspect in the Zwelitsha location. Upon further investigation, members recovered mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R4,320. The suspect was arrested and charged with the illegal possession of drugs. He will appear in court soon,” said Sam.
Sam added that the members were applauded for the arrest.
“The Marydale police members are commended for their swift response and removing drugs from our streets and the community for their role in reporting the crime,” he said.
