Upington police seek help locating missing woman

THE UPINGTON police have issued a public appeal for assistance in the search for a missing 63-year-old woman, Fransiena “Dede” Tommy.

According to Sergeant Omphile Masegela, spokesperson for the Northern Cape police, Tommy was last seen on May 3, 2024, at Capitec near Shoprite in the Upington Central Business District (CBD). She was accompanied by two other women at the time.

Masegela said the trio were observed conducting a bank transaction together. Following the transaction, Tommy departed with the two women and has not been seen or heard from since.

On the day of her disappearance, Tommy was dressed in a red blouse, blue denim jeans and blue sneakers.

Anyone with information regarding Tommy’s whereabouts is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Bahedile Nkwadipo, directly at 082 495 4615 or 054 337 3400. Information can also be reported to Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or submitted via the MySAPS app.

The police would like to remind the public that there is no waiting period to report a person missing. Immediate reporting can increase the chances of locating the missing person.
