THE POSTMASBURG police are investigating a culpable homicide case after an ambulance driver and her patient were killed in an accident on the R385 road on Tuesday morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the private patient transporter was en route from Kathu to Kimberley, with a driver, co-driver and patient on board, when the accident happened near Groenwater.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam confirmed the deaths of a 38-year-old male patient and a 34-year-old female driver at the scene. The cause of the crash remains unclear at this time.
“The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, but the police are investigating the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life,” said Sam.
