Northern Cape police get new wheels

THE PROVINCIAL commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, the deputy provincial commissioner for policing, Major-General Luntu Ngubelanga, the deputy provincial commissioner for corporate services, Major-General Thabo Mphuthi, and the acting deputy provincial commissioner for crime detection, Major-General Jacques Raymond, handed over the keys to 63 new police vehicles to police stations across the Province on Monday.

SAPS provincial spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the new fleet consisted of 40 Toyota double-cab and 23 Isuzu 4×4 double-cab bakkies that were suitable for the working terrain of the Province.

Lieutenant-General Otola stated that the new vehicles would boost crime-busting operations, such as Operation Shanela and Operation Vala Umgodi, in the Province.

She reminded members to utilise the resources responsibly and efficiently and to continue to combat crime through decisive police action and robust community involvement.

“The SAPS will continue to enhance and improve on the reaction time to community complaints and visible policing with a consistent focus on keeping the Province safe and secure,” Otola added.
