FOOD parcels were handed over to needy households and NGOs in Kimberley that were nominated by Flamingo Casino staff members.
Flamingo Casino partnered with the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation and service providers to donate the non-perishable items as part of Mandela Day celebrations.
The executive director of the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation, Sibongile Simelane-Quntana, explained that this year they targeted the Northern Cape.
“We targeted the Northern Cape as we believe that there are social issues that require more attention and we want this to be the beginning of us addressing some of these social ills, particularly those impacted by problem gambling and who have been forced to go hungry,” said Simelane-Quntana.
The general manager of Flamingo Casino, Themba Marasha, said Flamingo strives to make a meaningful impact in the communities where it operates.
“We strive to make an impact through welfare-related initiatives of this nature. Our communities are the soul of our business and should be taken care off and appreciated at all times,” said Marasha.
