ANC wins hotly-contested ward 1 by-election

ANC CANDIDATE Ferguson Morris Moses is the new ward councillor for Roodepan and Platfontein after winning 32.18 percent (926 votes) of the vote during the ward 1 by-election on February 22.

Voter turn-out was 61.64 percent

The DA’s Calvin Johnson received the second highest number of votes with 729, followed by Johan Loff from the PA with 713 votes.

Independent candidate Vaughan Settley secured 374 votes, while the Sol Plaatje Forum for Service Delivery’s Adriana Justine Esau received 69 votes.

Gordon Adams from the ACDP received 37 votes and Bonita Tasha Katz from the EFF was awarded the least support with 30 votes.
