THE NORTHERN Cape High Court sentenced Sandile Vaaiboom, 35, to three life terms for three counts of murder and five years imprisonment each for two counts of malicious damage to property.

Vaaiboom was found guilty of fatally stabbing three family members, namely Petrus Vaaiboom, 64, Kerileng Kgatlane, 54, and Vuyisile Vaaiboom, 45, who was a member of the South African Police Service in Delportshoop.

It was reported that on March 19 last year, Vaaiboom not only committed murder, but also broke into a house and damaged a vehicle's windows in order to gain access to the deceased.

The Northern Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, on Friday welcomed the life sentences that were secured by the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Raphael Khoboko.

She commended Khoboko for the “meticulous and professional investigation” that led to the incarceration of the accused.
