Malema says the fight to get Ramaphosa out of parliament has begun

Johannesburg – EFF leader Julius Malema has promised to make life in parliament a living hell for President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Malema was speaking to members of the EFF during a keynote address at the 3rd Limpopo’s People Assembly held at the Ngoako Ramathlodi Sports Complex on Monday.

Malema said Ramaphosa must know that the fight to get him out of parliament has begun, adding that winning the ANC conference did not mean he had won the fight against him.

He also called Ramaphosa a delinquent president.

He added that Ramaphosa’s triumph, which has been hailed by many as a victory for the ANC’s renewal, will be short-lived, adding that the EFF will make sure that it does not last long.

"Whether he likes it or not, Ramaphosa will not finish his term. We will fight it because he does not know that winning does not mean anything as we are still coming for him," he said.

Malema’s address coincided with the announcement that Ramaphosa had secured his second term as ANC president at the ANC’s 55th National Conference in Nasrec.

Ramaphosa won what has been described as a bruising ANC election when he beat presidential hopeful Dr Zweli Mkhize with 579 votes. Ramaphosa seemed calm during the three days leading up to the announcement and received 2,476 votes for the post of party president against 1,897 for former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.

Ahead of his address, Malema tweeted that Ramaphosa had won the elective conference, tweeting: "The ankole has survived," which set tongues wagging on social media.

Later in his address, Malema said his party would not be making life any easier for Ramaphosa following the recent revelations that Ramaphosa had kept millions of American dollars, which were later reportedly stolen at his Phala Phala farm in 2020.

"Even in parliament, we are going to say that from today on, this guy is a delinquent president, and just like that, the fight has begun. We will make sure that he does not find peace in that parliament.

“We will fight him until he resigns because how can you sleep on dollars when our people do not have water?” Malema said.
