TWO SHEBEENS were closed down by the police, who also disposed of home-made brew that was found at the two premises in Victoria West.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said that members of the Visible Policing unit raided two residences on Tuesday where they found home-made beer concoction with an estimated value of R8,500.
“At the first shebeen, the suspect was found in possession of 175 litres of concoction. The team proceeded to the second house where the suspect was found in possession of 250 litres of concoction,” said Tawana.
He added that both suspects were issued with a R1,000 fine for illegally dealing in alcohol.
Tawana added that members of the De Aar Public Order police confiscated dangerous weapons while conducting stop-and-search operations in the CBD, Breipaal and Bongani in Douglas on December 5.
He said the weapons included knobkerries, knives, scissors, a butcher knife blade and a screwdriver.
