Six killed in crash near Jan Kempdorp

SIX PEOPLE were killed in a motor vehicle accident on the N18 near Jan Kempdorp on Saturday night.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the Jan Kempdorp SAPS had opened an inquest into the suspected head-on collision.

"The accident happened at about 7.45pm when a Volkswagen Polo and a Hyundai Tucson collided," said Kock.

He added that three women in the Volkswagen Polo were declared dead on the scene.

"One female and a male passenger were transported to hospital for medical treatment."

Kock said that the three occupants of the Hyundai - one man and two women - also died on the scene.
