New tariffs for Northern Cape parks

THE LATEST daily conservation tariffs for national parks in arid regions were recently released.
According to South African National Parks (SANParks), conservation fees are discounted for South African citizens in view of the financially disadvantaged status of the majority of people and the contribution made by taxpayers to government funds.
All funds generated from conservation fees are used for the primary mandate of SANParks, which is to oversee the conservation of South Africa’s biodiversity, landscapes, seascapes and associated heritage assets through a system of national parks.
A community fund levy of 1% will be added to the cost of all accommodation and activity reservations. The objective of this levy is to respond to the diverse needs of communities as well as to design sustainable and strategic partnerships with various communities within and beyond national parks.
The levy will be used to create, amongst others, health and education facilities, such as clinics and schools. It will also assist in kick-starting water and sanitation projects in those communities.
A special rhino conservation fee will also be added to relevant parks to assist in the conservation and safeguarding of rhinos.
The conservation fees to enter any of the Northern Cape's arid parks (Augrabies Falls National Park, Mokala National Park, Namaqua National Park, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and Ai/Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park) as of November 1, 2022 are as follows:
Augrabies Falls National Park
South African citizens will pay R63 for adults and R31 for children
SADC visitors will pay R126 for adults and R63 for children
International visitors will pay R252 for adults and R126 for children
Mokala National Park:
South African citizens will pay R54 for adults and R27 for children
SADC visitors will pay R108 for adults and R54 for children
International visitors will pay R216 for adults and R108 for children
Namaqua National Park:
South African citizens will pay R52 for adults and R26 for children
SADC visitors will pay R104 for adults and R52 for children
International visitors will pay R104 for adults and R52 for children
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park:
South African citizens will pay R110 for adults and R55 for children
SADC visitors will pay R220 for adults and R110 for children
International visitors will pay R440 for adults and R220 for children
Ai/Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park:
South African citizens will pay R74 for adults and R37 for children
SADC visitors will pay R148 for adults and R74 for children
International visitors will pay R296 for adults and R148 for children
