WITH four identified marking centres and more than 1,200 marking personnel, the Northern Cape Department of Education said on Wednesday that it is ready to start the next phase of the 2021 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
Department spokesperson Geoffrey van der Merwe said the NSC exams in the Province concluded without any disruptions.
Van der Merwe said the department is currently rounding off preparations for the marking of the answer scripts.
“We have identified four marking centres to make provision for 1,289 marking personnel and to comply with Covid-19 protocols. The marking centres will open on December 10 and answer scripts and question papers will be delivered to marking centres. The capturing of marks will take place up to December 22,” said Van der Merwe.
He said that of the combined number of markers, there are 165 senior markers, 778 markers, 81 chief markers, 22 deputy markers, 81 internal moderators, 150 examination assistants, four centre managers and eight deputy centre managers.
Van der Merwe said the matric results will be released in January next year.
“The national Minister of Basic Education will have a press conference on January 20, 2022 to release the national results. The Northern Cape will release its provincial results on January 21, 2022, which will be followed by the Matric Awards,” Van der Merwe noted.
