NINETEEN people were apprehended by the Roodepan police over the weekend in a wanted suspects operation.
Roodepan police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said the suspects were arrested for various crimes.
"A team of Roodepan Detectives, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Mashodi, embarked on the operation on Friday, November 11, 2022,” said Sam.
“One of the 19 suspects has to account to four cases. The suspects have been on the run from the police for various crimes including attempted murder, pointing of firearm, theft, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, housebreaking and theft, malicious damage to property, robbery and contravention of protection order. Some of the suspects had been evading court appearance dates while others violated court orders.”
Sam said the suspects were arrested at various residences in Roodepan. "The suspects were apprehended and arrested at their respective homes in and around Roodepan and will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.
“The Roodepan station commander, Colonel Pieter Jansen, commended the police members for bringing the wanted suspects to book in order to ensure a crime-free Roodepan," Sam added.
