Malope gracefully addressed the situation on Facebook.
GOSPEL singer Rebecca Malope is proving once again that her grace and humility are just as powerful as her voice.
After a viral video of an incident at Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule’s funeral caused a stir on social media, Malope stepped forward to set the record straight.
The moment, which showed her being cut off mid-performance by Lindelani Mkhize, sparked outrage from fans who felt the gospel star had been disrespected.
In true Malope style, she chose to rise above the drama. Addressing the situation with grace, she took to Facebook to clarify what happened.
“South Africa, my beautiful family, thank you so much for all your love and concern. UMama wenu is 100% fine,” she began, immediately reassuring her fans that she had not been harmed or upset by the incident.
In her post, Malope said the interruption was due to strict scheduling and protocol that had to be followed during the funeral service.
“It was not anyone’s fault,” she said, absolving Mkhize of any blame.
She also made it clear that she and Mkhize had a long history of respect and camaraderie in the music industry, saying, “Lindelani Mkhize and I have been colleagues for many years and we share deep respect for each other.”
Rather than allow the incident to overshadow the solemn occasion, Malope urged her fans to focus on what really mattered – honouring the life and legacy of Mbokazi-Nkambule.
She closed her statement with a call for positivity. “Let’s keep the focus on uZanele Mbokazi-Nkambule’s great send-off and not turn the attention to anything negative.”
