Tyla turns heads at the 2025 Met Gala in a bespoke Jacquemus design

SOUTH Africa’s global superstar Tyla once again turned heads at her second appearance on the blue carpet at the 2025 Met Gala.

Styled by top Hollywood stylist Law Roach, Tyla wore a French luxury brand, Jacquemus design and executed the Superfine: Tailoring Black Style theme.

The Gen Z star slayed the front row at Jacquemus' Fall 2025 Show in January, and it seems her relationship with the fashion house has evolved. She is the only female at the Met Gala dressed by Jacquemus, along with British rapper Central Cee.

Her look pays homage to the late, renowned American fashion journalist and icon André Leon Talley.

Jacquemus in an Instagram post explained that Tyla’s corseted, crisp poplin dress is paired with a majestic oversized men’s shirt, both finely pinstriped with sequined threads and transparent crystals, with a surrealist touch coming through in the irregular and raw embroidery details, adorned with delicate crystal fil coupé embellishments.

“The overall silhouette exudes an unfinished, raw quality, blending refinement with artistic imperfection. Tyla’s Met Gala custom look revisits the elegance of classic Black Tailoring.

“The navy pinstripe and oversized shirt pay homage to André Leon Talley, while the crisp poplin fabric recalls traditional dandy suits. A surrealist touch – a nod to Jacquemus – appears in the irregular and raw embroidery details, adorned with delicate crystal fil coupé embellishments.

For her hair, Tyla went for a daring blonde pixie cut, which complemented her skin tone. American celebrity hairstylist Yusef ensured the hair was laid and looked amazing. He also did global superstar Rihanna’s hair.
