NICKELODEON is about to experience the charm and sass of Tyla as she gears up to host the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

The 23-year-old South African sensation is breaking barriers, left, right and centre, continuing to dominate 2025.

Nickelodeon has announced that the Grammy-award-winning superstar will host the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award, which will take place on June 21 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

The “Water” hitmaker is also nominated for Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for WizTheMc and bees & honey’s “Show Me Love”, on which Tyla is featured.

The singer is no stranger to the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards; in 2024, she was nominated for Favourite Global Music Star, Favourite Breakout Artist and Favourite Viral Song ("Water").

Tyla’s rise to stardom has been nothing short of rapid. She has been making remarkable waves in the music industry and breaking barriers with her unique sound and confidence.

Adding to the list of wins, her hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards is a whole new level of awesome, and Tyla's ready to slay.

She took to her X account in disbelief and posted: “I’m really about to host the kids' choice awards 💀🤍🙈.”

Tyla is making history once again as she becomes the first African to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, and as the first African host in the show’s history, she is set to bring a fresh perspective and a dash of South African flavour to the slimy Nickelodeon stage.

This is not Tyla’s first time making history, though.

She has been trailblazing as an African artist for a while now.

The “uppity African” (as some referred to her) is the first African artist to have a song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in over a decade with her hit single “Water”.

She also made history with her Grammy nomination, becoming the youngest South African nominee in the Best African Music Performance category.

And it seems like Tyla’s winning streak is far from over. With a busy year ahead, she is booked and busy, taking on new projects and collaborations that excite her fans.

On Thursday, May 16, it was revealed in the "Smurfs" trailer that Tyla will be featured on the movie’s soundtrack alongside Rihanna and Cardi B.

The 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards are set to be an exciting event, with a star-studded lineup of nominees such as Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar as the top nominees, each receiving four nods.

Tyla’s bubbly personality, captivating stage presence and undeniable talent make her the perfect host for the awards. We are predicting several cute selfies, hilarious moments and maybe even some impromptu dancing on the stage because she is so fun!

The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards will air on MTV Africa (DStv channel 130) on Wednesday, June 25, at 5pm.
