AWARD-winning popstar Britney Spears has left fans feeling "frightened" after sharing a video from her Calabasas mansion, where she adopts a British accent while unpacking the state of her nails.
She captioned the post: "Haven’t had real nails since 7th grade, no lie !!! I’m proud 🙄."
In the video, she said: “Like really little. So little, it’s weird, but I have a little bitty pinky nail. I haven't had nails since the seventh grade. I'm like freaking out. It's like really really tiny, but still ...”
As the video circulated online, fans quickly voiced their concerns.
@somebodyslucy commented: “Britney Spears video about her nails is actually frightening.”
@KierraaaMist wrote: “That ain’t Britney Spears. Her teeth ain’t never looked like that,” alluding to what they perceived to be an unsettling change in her appearance.
Some fans chose to view the lighter side of the moment.
@kittycatkitkats said: “What else could she be talking about? How are people spinning this into something it’s not? Poor Brit can't even post about nails. Love Brit.”
The comments have since been disabled.
On the professional front, Spears is preparing for a fully authorised biopic with Universal Pictures, which is currently in the developmental stages.
In March director Jon M. Chu took to X to squash speculation about potential casting, saying: “None of this is true. Sounds exciting but have not had one conversation about casting this movie yet. We are way too early in development. Sorry.”
Amid this buzz, fans also took the time to celebrate the 26th anniversary of one of Spears iconic hits, “Sometimes”. The song was released on April 6, 1999.
Fans reminisced about the song's impact, sharing clips and fond memories on social media.
@gelsonluz said: "Britney Spears, bless her heart, she really did make a splash with that tune. It's a reminder of a simpler time when pop music was all about catchy melodies and a little bit of teenage angst. You gotta admire her for capturin' that feelin' so perfectly."
@Josinell wrote: "I love this song … wow my childhood memories."
Adding to the nostalgia, a recent TikTok revelation has left fans astounded by the backstory of yet another of Spears's hits, “Toxic”.
The song depicts a relationship with a toxic partner, and while you might think Spears was singing about one of her own romantic endeavors, there is more to it than meets the eye.
The song was originally written for Kylie Minogue, before it was handed over to Spears. It had nothing to do with Spears personal life as many assumed.
