GET READY to be swept away by the beauty of dahlias in Douglas, the small Northern Cape town, as Love Dahlias Festival brings four days of blooms, workshops, and signature dinner experiences from 18-21 March.

This boutique festival, hosted by Love Dahlias, a flower farm and online bulb store, promises an unforgettable experience for flower lovers, gardeners, and creatives. The event will feature field experiences, practical learning, and small-town indulgence, set against the stunning landscapes of the Northern Cape.

Highlights include the Early Morning Dahlia Walk with Mareli Visser, a sunrise field walk through the dahlia rows, and the Dahlia Masterclass with Mareli, a festival finale session designed for anyone wanting to grow stronger, more reliable dahlias in South African conditions.

Standout culinary experience

But the evenings are where the magic happens. The Dahlia Affair, a three-night dinner series with a celebrity chef, is a must-experience.

Imagine a candlelit, flower-filled setting, good conversation, good music, and delicious food.

Each night has its own theme:

  • Glam & Gumboots Dahlia Dinner (opening night)
  • Dahlia of Your Dreams Dinner (dress as the dahlia of your dreams)
  • Funky Flower Crown Finale Dinner (grand finale)

"These dinners are not just meals — they’re part of the festival story," says Mareli Visser. "They’re where the day’s creativity and the whole ‘dahlia mood’ comes together."

The event will feature field experiences, practical learning, and small-town indulgence, set against the stunning landscapes of the Northern Cape.
