Rihanna is the latest celebrity to jump on the bandwagon of sharing memories from the year 2016. “My 2016 post wins,” captioned Rihanna the video as she celebrated the anniversary of the release of her album “ANTI”.
The beauty mogul shared a video highlighting the release of her album, “ANTI,” which was released ten years ago.
The video has photographs and footage from 2016, alongside highlighting major milestones, awards and Recording Industry Association of America certifications earned by the project.
“The longest charting album by a black female artist in music history,” reads one text in the video. “ANTI” has spent more than 508 weeks on the Billboard 200.
Later in the video, a behind-the-scenes video of Rihanna behind the booth, speaking to her collaborators, is featured.
“We all come from different parts of the world, different families, different backgrounds, different lives, different paths, and we somehow ended up here, and because of that, we were all able to make this thing called ‘ANTI,’ that the world is yet to receive and hear.
“Thank you. Thank y’all for being here through the great, the smooth, the fucked up, the weird, you know, like unknown.”
Rihanna may not have released another album in the last decade, but “ANTI” has stood the test of time and is still on the music charts.
According to the RIAA, “ANTI” is currently certified sextuple Platinum. Individual tracks have also received updated certifications, with “Love on the Brain” now Diamond-certified and “Needed Me” reaching 12-times Platinum.
While fans patiently await Rihanna’s ninth album, popularly known as “R9”, they can go back and listen to the timeless album that is “ANTI”.
