Kevin Gates defends Desmond Scott amid cheating scandal: 'He was suffering in silence'

American rapper Kevin Gates recently came to the defence of TikToker Desmond Scott following his split from Kristy Scott, amid a cheating scandal.

Gates, who appeared on the recent episode of “Club Shay Shay” podcast, added his two cents on the matter, revealing that a lot of men suffer in silence and Desmond was not happy in his marriage with Kristy.

“I don’t like to see people kicked while they are down, he wasn't happy,” he said.

The host, Shannon Sharpe, replied to Gates, saying that Kristy, however, did not make Desmond cheat.

Gates asked, “Why did he do it?” before proceeding to say that it was quite visible on the videos that Desmond was suffering in silence.

“He was suffering in silence; it was all over his face. He was suffering in silence - a lot of men suffer in silence,” he said.

The controversial rapper further added that he told Desmond that it’s not the end of the world now that his marriage has ended.

Kristy and Desmond got married in 2014 and share two boys. They rose to fame through their family-focused content and lifestyle posts.

The pair’s divorce shocked the world when the news broke in early January, and it was reported that Desmond cheated.

After the news of their divorce made headlines, Desmond released a statement on Instagram addressing the allegations, revealing that he did something he was not proud of and also wanted to breakup with Kristy.

“Toward the end of 2025, I wanted to separate, and I had conversations with Kristy regarding this.

“During this period, I made choices that I am not proud of,” he shared.

Desmond further revealed that he took responsibility for his actions and they both made a joint decision to file for divorce.

All this time, Kristy kept quiet and did not address anything related to the matter, but kept posting her usual content.

Kristy has broken her silence since the news of her divorce broke out:

On January 28, she broke her silence about the matter, sharing an update with her followers while grocery shopping.

“I just wanted to say thank you guys so much for being such a good support system for me. I don’t want to get emotional.

“But I kinda feel like this is gonna force you guys to see a different side of me because y’all always see my chaotic, humour side and it’s not just in me to do that at this current moment in time,” she said.

Kristy added that she is trying to be the best version of herself while going through this drastic change.

She also said that a lot of women, who have been through the same situation as hers, have been sending her encouraging messages in her DMs that she appreciates.
