HULL Street Theatre is adding a dash of extra sparkle to the festive season in Kimberley with its beloved Christmas by Candlelight sing-along show.

This year’s edition promises more than just carols and candlelight: Father Christmas himself will wander the theatre grounds, greeting youngsters with warm, witty cheer and handing out the kind of laughter that only a "winter wonderland" can inspire.

According to the theatre’s programme, Father Christmas will greet children, share jokes and spread holiday cheer, while the elf – perched on stilts – will tower over the audience, peek over shoulders and playfully check who has been naughty or nice.

In a new “peek into 2026” segment, the pair will invite youngsters to share their hopes, wishes and ideas for the coming year, encouraging imagination and kindness.

The evening will feature familiar Christmas carols, candlelight and opportunities for spontaneous interaction, aiming to create a memorable experience for families and the wider community.

Organisers say the show is designed to celebrate the spirit of Christmas through generosity, togetherness and hope for the future.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children, nieces and nephews to experience the joy, humour and magic of the season, and to be reminded – through song and laughter – of what the festive season is truly about.

The theatre encourages patrons to arrive early to secure good seats.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a small, wrapped gift for less fortunate children.

The beneficiaries for this year are children from:

  • Samaria informal settlement
  • Destiny Kids
  • Boipelo Child and Youth Care
  • Helen Bishop Home
  • Marikana informal settlement
