Somizi Mhlongo was one of the most worn designers at the 31st South African Music Awards.

Mhlongo this year celebrated completing his education journey at Villioti Fashion Institute.

The pesenter dressed Mzansi superstars Zee Nxumalo, Naledi Aphiwe and Makhadzi.

Mhlongo was studying part-time at Villioti Fashion Institute and has been open with his followers about his fashion design journey.

Nxumalo wore a burgundy leather dress with a long train that had to be held by three people. The train on the dress was perhaps unnecessary, but it delivered the drama that is perfectly suited for a major red carpet event.

Speaking to IOL, Nxumalo explained that she told Mhlongo that they needed leather and burgundy. “We needed youthful. We definitely needed sexy.”

Mhlongo shared on Instagram that they went for a showbiz vision and they delivered. “Thanks @zeenxumalo_ for trusting my vision. We wanted showbiz and a show is what we designed for yo @thesamas_ look. Risky but worth it.”

For Naledi Aphiwe's look, Mhlongo went with a black dramatic embroidered number that gave her a superstar look. The 20 year old has been very successful releasing new music and collecting awards.

Mhlongo also dressed multi-award winning musician Makhadzi, in a white number that had several pieces and could be removed to reveal another outfit.

“I truly enjoyed making your first sompireFemme design. Here’s to more. We don’t conform here,” wrote Mhlongo about making Makhadzi's outfit.

Mhlongo has also dressed legendary musician Judit Sepuma for her album cover.
