Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal are set to star in an upcoming Netflix thriller miniseries, His & Hers. Bernthal will portray a detective (Detective Jack Harper), while Thompson (Anna Andrews) plays a news anchor who becomes obsessed with a murder case in her hometown.
The trailer for the film sets up a murder investigation in a seemingly peaceful north Georgia town. As Detective Jack Harper probes the case, suspicion is cast on everyone in the community, including Harper himself.
The tension escalates when his own wife begins to doubt him. While he is addressing the media about the incident, saying, “A woman’s died, but right now we can’t give you any more than that, and that’s all we have. The central mystery hinges on the conviction that a single individual is lying as the various accounts of events are recounted. Scenes of mutual finger-pointing continue to be shown in the trailer.
Among the reporters, his wife confronts him, asking pointedly, "Is it true that you knew her?" Her conviction that there is a story to uncover stems from more than just journalistic instinct, as she has connections to the case, as does Detective Harper.
During their conversation, she questions him about the case, inquiring about any suspects he might have dug up on the deceased and expressing her own interest in the matter.
The movie trailer continues by revealing more investigation scenarios. Andrews states, "One of us knows who the killer is." Later, in a private conversation between Andrews and Detective Harper, Harper asks, "I didn't kill her, do you know who did?" Andrews replies, "I didn't do it if that's what you're asking." The trailer concludes with Andrews' observation: "There are two sides of the story, ours, theirs, yours, mine, his and hers, which means someone is always lying."
Fans on X are actively speculating about who is lying in the storyline as they eagerly await the movie's release in January.
