Siya Kolisi is back on home soil and has kicked off the festive season with a weekend packed with heart, surprises and plenty of celebration.
Fresh from the team’s successful Autumn Nations Series tour, the beloved Springbok captain wasted no time making the most of being back in the Mother City.
On Friday night, Kolisi pulled off a special surprise for his longtime friend Marc Lottering at the opening night of “Colleen The Musical” at the Baxter Theatre.
As the show drew to a close, Kolisi danced his way onto the stage and presented the comedian with a bouquet, catching both Lottering and the audience completely off guard.
He congratulated the cast on a great performance before announcing that it was Lottering’s birthday and sharing that they have been friends for many years.
Paying tribute to the star, Kolisi said, “He’s been a blessing to my life. His shows are funny but also very educational. They address many things that are difficult to speak about but he brings so much love and joy that we are able to speak about them.”
He added, “Marc has an amazing gift and I’m so grateful that he can make us laugh in difficult times to help us get through hardships.”
Kolisi later shared the heartwarming moment on his Instagram page with the caption: “I love you so much @marc_lottering ! It was so special celebrating you last night. You are such a blessing to us all, the way you use your gift to make us laugh and educate us at the same time. You are an even better human being and friend, love how you bring everyone together and last was just an example of that. Happy birthday ma se kind.”
Still soaking up the Cape Town energy, Kolisi showed his support for the Springbok Sevens team at the World Rugby SVNS Series.
In a playful stunt, he ran onto the field as part of a group dressed in ASAP delivery uniforms, complete with helmets.
When the group removed their helmets to reveal their identities, the crowd erupted as they realised their captain was right there among them.
After the Bokke edged past the All Blacks 19–14 in the semi-finals, a superfan moment unfolded in the stands as Kolisi celebrated with visible excitement, stealing the limelight with his infectious joy.
The Blitzboks went on to beat Argentina 21–19 to claim the World Champion title for the second time in a row, giving the home crowd even more to celebrate.
The celebrations did not stop there. Kolisi later stepped out with Stormers hooker Scarra Ntubeni to Langa to enjoy some shisanyama with fans who surrounded him with love and admiration.
Before the action-packed weekend, the proud dad also shared a tender family moment, spending time with his daughter Keziah as she went horseback riding and enjoying a bike ride with his son Nicholas.
From theatre lights to stadium cheers and heartfelt family time, Kolisi’s return to Cape Town has been nothing short of memorable.
