DISNEY'S “Unleash The Holidays” is lighting up Kimberley, featuring a towering Chari‑Tree at North Cape Mall and festive installations at Kimberley Airport that aim to bring holiday cheer to shoppers and travellers alike.
This year, the Chari‑Tree tradition expands to a record‑breaking 21 malls across eight provinces – and for the first time, the enchanted trees are also greeting travellers at all nine provincial airports, hoping to turn every layover into a moment of wonder.
The roll-out stretches from the highveld to the coast, and now reaches into the heart of the Northern Cape. Shoppers in Kimberley can marvel at the towering Disney Chari‑Tree at North Cape Mall, while passengers at Kimberley Airport are welcomed by a festive canopy of lights that wishes them a happy journey.
And it’s not just Kimberley; Upington Airport is also joining the line-up with its own festive Disney display.
The inclusion of the Northern Cape marks the first time the campaign reaches every corner of the country.
The festive fun doesn’t stop at the installations. Shoppers can slide down the iconic Canal Walk Holiday Slides, skate on a Disney‑themed ice rink at Cape Gate (open until January 11), or join arts‑and‑crafts, slime workshops and photo‑ops at Vincent Mall, Somerset Mall and Woodlands. Fourways Mall hosts Santa Land from December 10 to 24, while Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban and Mall of Africa in Johannesburg feature a giant Disney Gift Box.
For mini‑golf fans, Mall of Africa presents a nine‑hole “Zootropolis 2” course, presented by FNB and located at Waterfall City Park, running daily from 9am to 8pm until December 27.
"Unleash the Holidays" is Disney Africa’s largest festive campaign to date. Throughout the season, fans can experience the holiday magic with Disney, with delightful Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars TM products that bring beloved stories to life, holiday classics streaming on Disney+, festive programming across Disney Channel and Disney Junior, and the brand-new animated adventure Disney’s Zootropolis 2.
Each Chari‑Tree carries a QR code that lets visitors donate to Reach for a Dream, helping to fulfil the wishes of children with life‑threatening illnesses.
Disney Africa has invited everyone to share their holiday moments on social media using #DisneyAfrica and #UnleashTheHolidays, tagging @DisneyAfrica on Instagram and @DisneyinAfrica on Facebook.
From the glittering lights of the Northern Cape to the bustling malls of Gauteng, the magic of Disney is everywhere this season.
