GOING on holiday with Dad was a care-free experience. Wherever we travelled, whether it was in the old jalopies he owned, or the newer models, we knew that if Pops had a size 16 spanner, a set of pliers and a screwdriver, we were set for the road.

Dad is now older, but he’s lost none of his ingenuity. However, cars have become a tad more complicated. Complex circuitry, onboard computers and engines hidden under “plasticy” covers, it’s become increasingly difficult to trace a fault when the engine sputters.

Being aware of the fact that not everyone these days is a wizard with a wrench, Hyundai Automotive South Africa on Wednesday announced a special value-add initiative for all Hyundai owners across the country: free complimentary pre-holiday vehicle checks available at any Hyundai dealership.

Peace of mind, from the experts!

That’s correct. As holiday journeys typically bring increased mileage, heavier traffic and variable road conditions, Hyundai’s free vehicle check provides customers with the assurance that their cars are in optimal nick before setting off.

The inspections cover key safety and performance areas, including tyres, brakes, fluid levels, battery health, lights and general mechanical condition.

Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa says this customer-focused programme aims to ensure that all Hyundai customers travel with peace of mind.

“Our customers’ safety is our top priority.  The complimentary pre-holiday vehicle check is part of our ongoing commitment to deliver exceptional value, reliability and service at every stage of a Hyundai vehicle ownership.”

Visit your nearest dealership before you hit the road

All Hyundai customers are invited to visit their nearest dealership at their convenience to take advantage of the offer.  No booking fee applies and dealerships are equipped to assist with any follow-up maintenance or repairs identified during the check.

In addition, the company is urging motorists to prioritise safe and responsible driving during the festive season, taking into consideration the number of fatalities during this period.

“No matter how advanced a vehicle’s safety features are, nothing replaces the importance of responsible behaviour behind the wheel,” emphasised Anderson.

Most Hyundai models are equipped with advanced technologies, including lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning and fatigue detection systems that prompt drivers to take breaks when needed.

The latter, evaluates driving patterns to detect signs of drowsiness or inattention, one of the leading contributors to festive-season crashes.

“The greatest safety feature in any Hyundai vehicle will always be the person behind the wheel, making a conscious decision to stay alert, sober and protecting other drivers on the road,” urged Anderson.
