If you're on the lookout for an exciting show that mixes mystery with drama, "The Hunting Wives" on Netflix is the perfect pick for you.

Set against the backdrop of Texas, this series explores the lives of women caught in an intricate web of secrets and scandals.

The opening scene kicks off with a gripping murder mystery.

We witness a woman sprinting through the woods until she is unexpectedly shot. Before we can find out what happened, the story takes us back in time to reveal the life of Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow).

Sophie and her husband, Graham (Evan Jonigkeit), move to Texas for his work.

Once a lively publicist and a Democratic activist, Sophie is now a stay-at-home mom who struggles to adjust. She doesn't drive or consume alcohol.

All that changes for Sophie when she meets Margo Banks (Malin Åkerman), a charming yet manipulative woman who basically uses her body to get what she wants.

Margo, who is married to Graham’s boss, Jed (Dermot Mulroney), quickly draws Sophie into her group of friends, which includes Jill, a pastor's wife, and Callie, who is married to the local sheriff.

But this seemingly close-knit group isn’t what it seems. It turns out that Margo has some dark secrets. She and Jed have an "arrangement", so she is having affairs with both Callie as well as Jill's teenage son, Brad.

Because Sophie is so desperate to fit in and feel like her old self again, she quickly gets sucked into Margo's world.

The next thing, she is hunting feral hogs in the woods with the other wives and carrying a gun in her purse.

The same gun becomes the murder weapon used to kill the woman in the woods in the opening scene.

From here on, the search is on to find the killer, but all the evidence points towards Sophie. After she's kicked out of her home, she goes on a mission to clear her name.

The case is closed, until ... There are so many juicy dilemmas and unexpected plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The show comes with an R-rated warning, so if you have a problem with swinging, nudity, lies, secrets, guns and Republicans, then this is probably not the show for you.

"The Hunting Wives" is undeniably addictive, scandalous and full of juicy twists that make it hard to look away.

Rating: **** a standout series with exceptional qualities.
