Social media was abuzz after a video showing a male prison warden getting cozy with a female prisoner, reportedly at Durban's Westville Correctional Centre.
In the clip, the officer, dressed in full uniform, can be seen dancing with the prisoner. The pair then cuddle and hold hands in full view of another woman prisoner who walks pass them.
The 'steamy affair' got tongues wagging on social media with people accusing government officials of not being bothered.
In a short statement, the DCS said it was aware of the images and videos.
"DCS can confirm that the videos and pictures were taken from a set of a popular television drama Uzalo. Individuals depicted are actors in costume, not real correctional officers or inmates," the department said.
"We urge the public and media outlets to verify facts before spreading harmful misinformation. Disinformation not only damages reputations but also hinders public trust in vital institutions," the department added.
