In a show of solidarity and compassion, employees at Mokala National Park have joined the nationwide campaign to raise awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection during Cancer Awareness Month.
Throughout October, staff members will don pink clothing and ribbons every Friday as part of the #PinkFriday initiative, a symbolic effort to spread the message that “your health matters” and that early detection can save lives.
The first #PinkFriday was marked this past Friday, officially launching a month-long effort by park staff to stand with individuals and families affected by cancer. The initiative also encourages colleagues and community members to prioritise their health through regular check-ups, screenings, and self-care.
This campaign forms part of SANParks’ ongoing commitment to promoting employee wellness and community health awareness. By aligning with national health observances, Mokala National Park continues to play an active role in encouraging education, prevention, and early intervention, proving that even in conservation spaces, caring for people is as important as caring for nature.
