Amapiano star Sir Trill is celebrating a significant milestone in his music career, having reached 1 million followers on Spotify. The South African songwriter and singer took to Instagram to share the news with his fans, also revealing that he now boasts 1 million streams on Apple Music.

Mzwakhe Zwane, better known by his stage name Sir Trill, is one of the most cherished figures in South Africa's vibrant Amapiano scene. A multi-talented artist, singer, rapper, songwriter, composer, and entrepreneur, Sir Trill rose to prominence in 2021 thanks to his standout vocal performances. His talent quickly led to collaborations with renowned South African musicians, including DJ Maphorisa, Dlala Thukzin, and Mellow & Sleazy.

The artist has consistently captivated audiences with his features, setting South Africa "on fire" every time he appeared on a track. His first major feature was on "Yini S’dakwa", released in 2021 during the quarantine period- a time when Amapiano was emerging into the mainstream spotlight. His performance on the track drew significant attention and won him a loyal fanbase.

Another standout moment came when he appeared on "Phuze" by Dlala Thukzin, where he delivered a memorable chorus alongside the late Mpura, Zaba, and Rascoe Kaos.

Sir Trill went on to release several singles, including "On the Floor", "Mara Kay", "Woza", and "Zipho Nkomo", as well as a full-length album titled "Ghost". He also featured on influential Amapiano tracks like "Banyana", "John Wick", and "Isingisi", which helped popularize the genre even further, particularly on platforms like TikTok during the pandemic.

Despite his success, Sir Trill’s journey has not been without hardship. In a previous podcast interview, he opened up about the challenges he faced in the music industry. He spoke candidly about a mysterious figure he referred to as "the Grootman", whom he accused of exploiting his work and withholding payment.

These issues reportedly led to both financial difficulties and his temporary absence from the music scene, with some collaborators distancing themselves from him during this time. “We make a song, we all happy,” he said in the interview. “One week later, artists start pulling out of the song.” This further highlighted the instability and betrayal he explained to have experienced behind the scenes.

However, 2023 marked his comeback, as he returned to the spotlight with collaborations alongside De Soul, Msongi, Tumisho, Mawhoo, and others, signaling a new chapter in his career.

With 1 million followers now on Spotify, Sir Trill’s position in the industry is being further cemented. While Spotify pays artists based on streams rather than followers, reaching this milestone reflects the size and loyalty of his fanbase and may open new doors for sponsorships, collaborations, and greater visibility. In his celebratory Instagram post, he captioned it: “Yoh! SYABONGA! PHANSI!”, which translates to “We’re thankful, on the floor.” Fans flooded the comments with excitement, with one writing, “Well deserved 👑. The ghost is back.”
