Afro Nation has confirmed the first wave of performers for its 2026 Portugal edition, with Tyla, Wizkid and Asake leading the line-up.

The three-day festival will return to Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, The Algarve, from July 3 to July 5.

The Grammy-winning South African star, who has had a breakthrough run in the last two years, will take centre stage alongside Nigerian heavyweights Wizkid and Asake.

The artists will be joined by American rapper Gunna, who is the festival’s special guest for the weekend. Other names announced so far include Mariah the Scientist, Niska, Olamide, Awilo Longomba, Bien, Darkoo, Denden, Djodje and Young Jonn.

Fans of amapiano can look forward to a stage dedicated just for them, “Piano People” stage, where Madumane, Focalistic, Amaroto, Daliwonga, Lee McKrazy, Mawhoo, Mellow & Sleazy and Zee Nxumalo are set to perform.

A brand-new Afrotronic Stage will also debut in 2026, introducing electronic sounds to the Afro Nation setup for the first time.

Founded in 2019, Afro Nation has grown into one of the world’s biggest celebrations of African and global Black music.

The Portugal edition regularly draws crowds of around 40,000 from around the world, uniting music enthusiasts.

South African stars such as Rami Chuene, Claire Mawisa, and influencers such as Moghelingz and Sphokuhle were flying the Mzansi flag high at Afronation 2025 back in July.

The festival has also expanded to Ghana, Miami, Detroit and most recently Puerto Rico, each highlighting genres such as Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B, hip hop and dancehall.

This moment connects perfectly for the “Water” hit maker with her recent collaborations. She linked up with Wizkid on “Dynamite” from the “We Wanna Party” mixtape and teamed with Gunna on “Jump” from her self-titled debut.

This will also not be Tyla’s first rodeo at Afro Nation Portugal stage, as she performed in 2024, appearing alongside Gunna for their hit “Jump”. However, in 2026, she returns as one of the major artists leading the line-up.

Now, all three are sharing the same stage with Wizkid set to make a comeback on a big festival stage in a while, while Asake continues his streak as one of Afrobeats’ most consistent hitmakers.

The presale tickets will go live on October 9, with general sales starting the following day on the festival’s website. More artists are expected to be announced in the lead-up to July.
