Summer Walker has arrived in Mzansi, and she’s already loving every moment of it.
The singer received a warm welcome upon her arrival at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
A video of the ‘A Heart of a Woman’ hitmaker arriving at the airport has been shared on the social media platform TikTok.
In the video, Walker is seen excitedly walking around and signing autographs for her fans.
Many netizens reacted to the video, noting that she resembles a South African, with some likening her to our very own Sithelo Shozi.
@mahlase_nondaba commented: “Ngithi uSithelo 😅 (I thought it was Sithelo).”
Another user, @missvuvu, agreed, saying: “Sithelo is this you? 😍🥰”
@elhnizz remarked, “She looks so South African,” while @bontle03naledi expressed excitement, stating, “Can’t wait to see her on Sunday. 🥺🥺🥺🥺.”
Walker is set to perform on Sunday, October 5, at SunBet Arena in Pretoria. She will be headlining the ‘In The City’ festival.
Sun International revealed that it decided to book her for a show in Gauteng following an overwhelming demand and the announcement of her headlining a slot at "Rocking the Daisies" in Cape Town.
The R&B singer will be at the festival scheduled to take place at Cloof Wine Estate from October 3 to 5.
After landing in South Africa, the singer wasted no time and hit the vibrant streets of Maboneng.
She took to her Instagram, sharing a video to her stories of her enjoying the nightlife in Jozi.
In the video, she is seen dancing to Amapiano with a drink in her hand and joking with fans that she is considering an extended stay.
“Somebody send for my kids. Get their passports. South Africa, ya’ll won,” she laughed.
In June, "IOL" reported that Summer Walker sparked controversy by mocking South African reality TV star Wandi Ndlovu's Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) through her Instagram stories.
She shared a side-by-side image showing Ndlovu's real body alongside a photoshopped version that exaggerated her thighs to resemble chicken thighs.
While Walker found the post amusing, many netizens did not share her sentiment and instead turned the joke back on her, making fun of her own BBL.
A few days later, Ndlovu revealed a conversation with Walker, who explained her intentions behind the post.
“Girl, I just wanna say that I think you’re beautiful and yo body looks great, I don’t know who you are but I just thought it was hilarious that someone photoshopped roasted seasoned chicken thighs on someone lmao like that’s so ridiculous."
Despite the drama that preceded her visit, the singer is happy to be in Mzansi and is enjoying herself.
